Chris Thornley

Director

Hello,

My name is Chris Thornley and I am an illustrator and designer. I also go by the name Raid71 (which was my secret identity until now!)

Over the past few years I have had the amazing opportunity to work on a lot of exciting projects on both a corporate level as well as on a personal one. I recently became a father and this has put a whole new perspective on life.

Stephen Caton

Director

Hello,

My name is Stephen Caton.

1972 – Born in Preston.

1980 – Sent many illustrations into Tony Hart's Gallery [none were ever broadcast Thanks Tony!]

1986 – I always thought I'd be designing graphics for computer games [when computer games were less than 48k in size!]

1988 – Went to Blackburn College and soon began to appreciate letter forms & typefaces [and the Apple Mac] - and so began my love affair with typography.

2000 – Me and Chris decided to form Source Creative - I can't believe it's been 5 years since its inception!
We've been lucky enough to work on some amazing projects and even luckier to meet some incredible people along the way.

2002-03 – I would never have thought that my most accomplished and challenging job would have been the interior of Blackburn Children's Library and not a logo, typeface or printed item!

2007 – It's going to be a big year for me and my wife Catherine, as our baby is due in June. Can't wait to design the nursery!

Howard Marsden

Senior Designer

Hello,

Around the age of 9 I discovered that I could do a pretty good drawing of Desperate Dan, and decided there and then that whatever I did when I grew up it would involve drawing. My tastes changed over the years, 2000AD replaced the Beano and I discovered music and some amazing record sleeves. It started with Factory and Peter Saville, then came 4AD and Vaughan Oliver - I was hooked. So I decided I wanted to be a graphic designer.

So here I am, doing what I've always wanted to do. I've managed to have an album out too, as part of the band Slomo, with another out very soon.

Yvonne Cookson

Designer

Hello,

My name is Yvonne

Working for Source Creative as a graphic designer allows me to use my creativity and I draw inspiration from many designers and illustrators such as Lisa Alisa, Camille Rose Garcia, Tara McPherson, Vault 49...and many more (too many to list!).

Each project brings different challenges which at times can be quite testing, but I love the variety and the buzz when a design really works.

Ben Marsden

Designer

Hello,

I'm Ben Marsden and I'm a Graphic Designer/illustrator.

I fell in love with design and illustration around the time I fell in love with music... I wanted to design album covers when I grew up! Vaughn Oliver's record sleeves for 4AD and Peter Saville's for Factory Records really sparked a passion for design in me.

These days, all sorts of things inspire me from graphic novels to graffiti, from E-Boy to Airside and from The Chase back to Vaughn Oliver.
